Slacktivist [20 Jan 2010|09:50pm]

This is my attempt to re-kick-start this community. It's probably not the best attempt, and I apologise if this has been brought up before. No, I didn't search back at all. Give me credit for trying! Like the road to Hell, I'm paved with good intentions...

I know at least a couple of members (including me, hurrr) read Fred Clark's little-chunk-by-little-chunk dissection of the LB series on his blog, Slacktivist...but I just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention. He's on the second book now.

Highly recommended for any 'anti-fans' of LB (...hands up if you're just here for the unintended ships and the lulz, honestly?) and for any 'actual fans' who aren't afraid of seeing the books, the authors, the theology and the Biblical interpretation get scrutinised like so many bacteria under a microscope...wow, that analogy was more negative than I intended...shall I leave it in? Yeeah.

[ mood | anxious ]

Hello, people. \o/
I was wondering...does someone here know something about Left Behind - the movie?

Do you know if there's going to be a continuation?

Like...I watched 'till the third movie...but I don't know if there's going to be a fourth one ;_;

Does somebody know about that?

I would be very thankfull if someone answered me that ^^

Babylon Rising (the books) [13 Feb 2007|09:27am]

[ mood | amused ]

Has anyone read the Babylon Rising series? What do you think of those? Why is it that everytime they mention Isis she has to be described as so beautiful & a model. It's so nauseating. Please! Plus, no one talks the way that librarian did when she was asking if Isis was a model & such when she was talking to Talon (book #3).

I swear, I wish almost Talon would kill Isis...

I've only read books 3 & 4 now, but not 1 & 2.

These seem a little more fartetched. Sort of ala James Bond type...(Michael Murphy)

Hello! [11 Feb 2007|03:54pm]

[ mood | cheerful ]

Newbie here! Have read all the books, including the prequels. I am currently reading one of the non-fiction ones, Are We Living in The End Times? and will soon begin the Babylon Rising ones.

Have an rpg I'm hoping takes off:
plus board:

I agree with the poster before about the movies not being so great. I think what they should have done was turn the books into a tv series (though I read somewhere they were thinking/planning that, but it never came to light). This way what was in the books could have been played out more indepthly & we could have maybe liked the characters more. They could have had a chance to grow the way they did in the books.

new....not really [10 Feb 2007|03:02pm]

The movies were horrible, but I was growing into adolescence with a pious father and stepmother so it was all I had. However Gorden Currie made a very sexy Carpathia. Before christmas I started listening to the radio drama on the net and found that I really missed the series. I had lost interest some years ago after Hattie died. It was so refreshing to get back into the fandom after being away for so long. As an early present to myself I bought The Rising and found it wonderful. I always loved Nicolae's character and his childhood fascinated, me. I am to appreciate these stories so much more now that the perspective of that they are merely fiction has come into play. (When I was 12 I studied the bible as I read) I was able to take so much more from the characters and the storyline. I may buy the other prequels after I finish Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series.

Advice for a Newbie ??? [11 Dec 2006|12:09pm]

Hello. I have the Left Behind series and recently purchased the first two books of the prequel series (The Rising, The Regime) and was wondering :

Do you recommend reading the original 12-book Left Behind series first, and then the prequel series, or do you recommend starting with The Rising and working forward from there ?

Thanks. ~Jim

WHERE IS EVERYBODY?? I know the Rapture hasn't happened yet 'cuz I'm still here! *rofl*

Just a heads-up about a NEW SERIES from the LB guys, Tim and Jerry B. It is the Jesus Chronicles, about the life of Christ as written in the Gospels. I got a sneak-peek of Chapter 1 in the first book, John's Story. Can't wait to read the whole thing!

READ THIS! [23 Jun 2006|07:50pm]

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

If you look around you`ll see it.You`ll see what God is doing. He is doing so much and yet if we don`t pay attention we`ll miss it.
I believe God is bringing about revival. He`s restoring relationships that had been broken,He is mending hearts back together. If you look around I know you can see that many people are changing...well,things are changing.New ministries are being started, people are getting so much closer to God than ever before.God is mobilizing His church to bring the good news to Hid chosen people (Israel)and the whole earth.I can see tht God is working in people hearts. He is drawing people to Him and using the most unspected ways to reveal Himself.Somehow,He is bringing Christians all around the world back to their Jewish roots.I see it.I`m part of that group. And for some of you this might seem alittle weird, but it`s happening. There are revivals happening here in the States,in Iran,in Iraq .There are so many things going on that the news won`t cover. There are amazing things happening in Israel besides the whole Palestinian issue.I believe God is opening doors and making ways for us to fufill the plans that He has for our lives.
Ofcourse, with every person that comes to Christ there is another who rebels. As God speaks some people are rejecting Him more. There are things happening in the US that I can`t believe. The darkness is becoming greater because Satan knows his time is running out.I believe that God is getting ready to do amazing things ,because He`s coming to rapture His church soon.
I feel the urgency to tell every christian to please not waist time.Use every opportunity you can to tell others about Christ.Give time to prayer and fasting and bible reading. These are our weapons agaisnt a battle that is very real.A battle agaisnt Satan.Time is gonna run out and I want to know that I did all that I could to bring as many people to Christ.
Christians we NEED to step up to that level of righteousness that we are called to be at.We represent Christ,we are His embassadors. That is not ,by any means,to be taken lightly.God takes how we represent Him very seriously.
Let`s live each day as it were our last....

Thank you for your time!
Living for Him,
Cristina I.

Sharing another devotional.... [18 Nov 2005|12:20pm]

A Devotional by Os Hillman

Fulfilling Vows
When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.
Ecclesiastes 5:4

Have you ever had a business relationship with someone who made a commitment but later said, "Well, things changed, so I cannot honor our original agreement."? Sometimes this may be the case, but often it is simply an opportunity to avoid fulfilling an agreement. God is big on fulfilling vows. God's nature is righteousness and truth. You will always see God honor His Word. He expects the same of His people.

God says there are consequences when we do not fulfill our vows. Subsequent Scripture verses reveal the following:

It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, "My vow was a mistake." Why should God be angry with what you say and destroy the work of your hands? Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore stand in awe of God" (Ecclesiastes 5:5-7).

God tells us that He will destroy the work of our hands for failure to fulfill vows. That's pretty strong language. It gives us an indication of how important fulfilling vows is to God. He will not prosper our work if there are unfulfilled vows in our lives

Are there any unfulfilled vows in your life that may be hindering your projects? Vows show up in many areas of our lives - marriages, businesses, personal friendships. Unfulfilled vows in any one of these could be the reason your work may be hindered.

Ask God today if there are any unfulfilled vows in your life. If so, begin today to make them right so that you may be successful in whatever God calls you to do.

Just thought I'd share this with all of you.... [17 Nov 2005|08:30am]

The following is a daily devotional I received from LivePrayer.com, if you aren't aware of the organization, it is a group led by Bill Keller seeking to bring the word of God to secular mediums....trying to harvest as many souls for the Lord as possible during these last days. He is very insightful and I really get a lot out of these devotionals, just thought I would share.

(Psalms 143:10)

***TOMORROW, look for a special message on the coming
persecution of Christians....IN THE UNITED STATES!

The goal is not to conform God to our will, but for us to conform to His
will. This Devotional today is a deep one. One of the most frequent
questions people always ask, is how do I know what the will of God is for my
life? Much of the difficulty in
determining what God's will is for our life is trying to separate our wants
and desires from God's wants and desires. This is probably one of the most
difficult issues you will ever deal with in your walk with the Lord and I
just want to give you some basics to help you in not trying to conform God
to your will, but for you to conform to His will.

The only way you can begin to understand what God's will is for your life is
to be in a daily, intimate, surrendered relationship with Him. It is
critical that you are spending time with the Lord every day through His
Word, through prayer, and that quiet time where it is just you and the Lord
in fellowship. That is the only way we can learn to hear His voice so that
over time we are able to discern whether it is God speaking or simply
ourselves. I can't begin to emphasize enough how important it is to take
the time each day to get alone with God and have that time of fellowship.
You only begin to know God's will for your life when you really know God.

The key is you have to be at a place in your life where you are fully
surrendered to the Lord. You need to be able to say, "Lord, wherever
want me to go, whatever you want me to do, I am completely yours". The
biggest hurdle to overcome in following God's will for our life is the fear
of the unknown. What is my life going to be like if I follow God? How will
my life be different if I really let God have His way? Trust me, He loves
you, cares about you, and only wants the best for you. God wants to bless
you and those blessings are found as we faithfully and obediently follow

The more we listen to God's voice, the more we obey and follow His voice,
the less time we spend trying to force God to follow what we want to do, and
the more time we spend trying to follow what God wants us to do. As we grow
and mature in our relationship with the Lord, we find ourselves more
concerned with what God is asking us to do and we slowly begin to make His
desires our desires. My friend, THAT is the time when you find that special
place almost impossible to put into words. That place where your desires
have become God's desires. It is clearly no longer your will that you seek,
but it is His will.

I love you and care about you so much. I will be praying for you that you
will get serious about finding and living in God's perfect will each day.
It is the only way we truly know the peace, joy, and abundance of this life.
In His will, we can do all things because it is not us, it is Him. Out of
His will, we can do nothing. Nothing works or makes sense. Take some time
alone with the Lord today and begin to pray in earnest for God to help you
begin to quit trying to conform Him to your will, but for you to conform to
His will!

As we are into the last 13 days of our 75th month, we still need $18,800 to
end the month with all of our financial obligations met. Thank you to all
those who have already given this month. For those who have not, please
send your very best gift today. Don't expect someone else to do what God is
asking you to do. God will bless you for your faithfulness and obedience!

If you have not given this month, please take a moment, pray, and ask God
what He would have you do to help me today. I only ask that you are
obedient, give according to your ability to give, and give what God is
asking you to give. If it is $20 or $50, fine. If it is $100 or $250,
fine. If it is $500, $1,000, or the entire $18,800, fine.

***Don't assume that someone else will give. What they do is between them
and God. It is YOUR obedience God is looking at, and YOUR blessings.

The Next Book in The Rising Series [04 Nov 2005|07:12pm]

[ mood | hopeful ]

The next book in Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye's prequel to the Left Behind series comes out November 15. The name of the book is "The Regime", so keep an eye out for it. I got a glance at it today, and it sounds (and looks) awesome.

Howdy [01 Nov 2005|08:17pm]

[ mood | content ]

I'm a new member, but I've read all of the Left Behind books as well as the first prequel, The Rising. It's a really great series, one of my favorites. It's so easy to relate to the characters and their every daily lifes that are just like ours. That's one of the reasons that I love this series so much. My favorite character had to be Cameron "Buck" Williams. What's yours?

In the World, But Not of It [16 Aug 2005|11:58am]

I didn't put up a struggle and I fell head long into sin.  And when the opportunity came, I saw a way to move out of that world.

But God held me there and said, "Stay."

I believe that with your prayer,  God's hands will move on the Co-Ops.  That God will start something new here and change us from the inside out.  I need your help though.

I'm asking for prayer pledges.

Thank you.

James 1:5-8

5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

[ mood | fangirl-y ]

If you all did not happen to know, the third Left Behind movie is set to come out around the end of October.

While this movie looks nothing like the book, I think I have to say it's going to be a really good movie. I mean honestly, look at Amanda, she's gorgeous! ♥ Anyways, I just didn't see an update about that and I was surprised. So, here I am right now making the update. Woohoo.

Well, now I have something else to wait for besides the next book.
